A Bit More about Kate McGarrigle
I have long loved the music from the many McGarrigle sisters' albums, which they sang and played with uncompromising honesty. Flying under the radar of pop, they went to the true roots of eclectic folk music that is shared around a piano among friends and family, or gathered with front porch guitar and banjo strums and plucks with lots of hearty singing. Whether reviving Stephen Foster or creating their own haunting melodies, they gave us a music that everyone can play, sing, hum, share, listen, and clap along to without needing much technology. Kate will be sorely missed, but the music always lives on.
